4. Côte des Bars

The Côte des Bars lies in the southern part of Champagne, near Burgundy, and is one of the region's most dynamic areas. Pinot Noir dominates here, cultivated on clay-limestone soils from the Kimmeridgian period, similar to those of Chablis. Compared to the more northerly areas, the wines are characterized by greater aromatic richness and fruity depth. In recent years, many small winemakers have contributed to elevating the area through sustainable farming methods and artisanal winemaking. Champagnes from the Côte des Bars combine energy, substance, and a strong personality. Today, the region is among the most interesting for those seeking original interpretations of Champagne.
